Overview
The Children’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Project assists low-income children who have been denied disability benefits.
The initial financial eligibility screening is handled through the SJLS Centralized Intake Unit (CIU). Cases are then evaluated to determine if they meet the SJLS case acceptance guidelines. If a case is determined to be one that we handle, the case is referred out to one of the volunteer attorneys on the Private Attorney Involvement Program panel (PAI).
Volunteer attorneys receive copies of the documents which indicate any diagnoses and other relevant education and/or medical records provided by the parent.
